Catching a Leprechan

We had a really fun St. Patrick’s Day this year.  Growing up I always loved St. Patrick’s Day.  I remember wearing green and pinching everyone I could.  I wanted to do a little more for McKay and make St. Patrick’s Day a little bit bigger of a holiday.  I found a ton of great ideas online, but my favorite idea was on The Idea Room.  So, this year we decided to try and catch a leprechaun using a terra cotta pot, painted black, and some broccoli for bait.  The night before St. Patrick’s Day McKay and Adam built a trap.  McKay was so excited to catch the Leprechaun and stop him from taking our money/gold.  Please forgive my poor videographer skills and enjoy McKay’s cuteness.

In the morning, McKay woke up already to find a leprechaun in his trap, but somehow the little man escaped.  He did leave McKay a little clue, which led to another clue and another, until it led to the Leprechaun’s pot of gold.  Since McKay isn’t much of a reader the Leprechaun took pictures of different things around the house for the clues.  The first picture would lead to one place in the house and there would be another picture leading to another place, no reading necessary.

McKay was so excited when he found his pot of Gold.  I know you can’t see it, but under all those green goodies is a bunch of chocolate gold coins.

This last video is more for Grandma and Grandpa Frank.  I don’t think anyone else wants to watch a five minute video of McKay running around the house finding clues.

Thank you for the wonderful video - I loved watching all McKay's cute little mannerisms. I'd watch it for 5 hours if I could! McKay, I'm so glad you found your Leprechan Treasure - you're good at finding things. Hope you had a happy St. Patricks's Day. And did you know, your great great Grandma Obray's birthday was on St. Patrick's Day? And your great great Grandpa on my father's side was Irish! Love, Grandma Frank
